WUNU researchers took part in an academic mobility programme
As part of the European Erasmus+ programme, representatives from West Ukrainian National University paid a working visit to FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in Graz (Austria). The partner university brought together 40 lecturers specialising in German studies and 44 students from 14 different higher education institutions in Ukraine for an exchange of experience and intensive training.
The academic mobility programme was attended by Olga Tsaryk, Director of the International Centre for Culture and Development, who is a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT, and Tetiana Panychok, Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT.
During the week-long professional development programme, academics from WUNU focused on current issues in subject-specific didactics, the linguistic features of the Austrian variant of German, and innovative approaches to democratic education. Martin Payer, Commercial Director of FH JOANNEUM, and Masoma Regl, an officer from the City Councillor’s Office, addressed the participants with a welcome speech and invited the Ukrainian delegation to the town hall. In turn, Birgit Ernadi, Head of the International Relations Office at the Austrian university, emphasised the importance of providing ongoing and comprehensive support to Ukrainian educators during these challenging times.
During the visit, the WUNU delegation discussed prospects for developing academic cooperation, conducting joint research, implementing best European practices, carrying out new international projects and strengthening institutional partnerships between Ukrainian and Austrian universities.
The knowledge gained, modern teaching methods and established European contacts will make a significant contribution to improving the educational process and enhancing the quality of foreign language training for young people.
