The International Centre for Culture and Development of West Ukrainian National University arranged a trip from 11 to 15 May 2026 for students to participate in the international project ‘FrühlingsCampus’, organised by the HOCHSCHULE MEISSEN (FH) und Fortbildungszentrum in Meissen (Germany).

The group included students Olesia Bermysh (BKP-21), Dariia Drovaliuk (BKP-22), Olesia Khlod (BKP-12), Andriana Morochylo (EME-11), Maksym Lenik (EME-21), Alina Smachylo (BKP-13), Viktoriia Kharysh (BKP-23), Andriana Pashulia (BKP-13), Yana Rzhnitska (BKP-12), Oleksandra Sukhenko (BKP-23) and professor Olga Tsaryk of the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT, who is the director of the International Centre for Culture and Development.

The programme included academic presentations, educational workshops, intercultural meetings and team-building activities in an international setting. Throughout their participation in the programme, WUNU students also completed consecutive interpreting tasks from German into English in conditions as close as possible to professional interpreting practice. This format allowed them to practise their skills in the rapid comprehension, analysis and reproduction of spoken language, as well as to gain a better understanding of the specific nature of a translator’s work during international events.

During their stay in Germany, the project participants also had the opportunity to explore the cultural and historical heritage of the city of Meissen. An excursion programme was organised for the students, during which they visited Albrechtsburg – Meissen Castle, one of Saxony’s most notable architectural landmarks and considered one of Germany’s first palace castles. No less interesting was the visit to the Meissen Porcelain Museum, where the students learnt about the history of the world-famous Meissen porcelain, the specifics of its production and its significance for European cultural heritage. Participants had the opportunity to see unique exhibits, learn about the traditions of porcelain art and experience the atmosphere of one of Germany’s most famous cultural symbols.

A trip to Dresden – one of Germany’s most famous cultural centres – formed a separate part of the cultural programme. During the tour, the students had the opportunity to explore the city’s architecture, its historical landmarks and the atmosphere of the Saxon capital. The participants visited the centre of Dresden, seeing famous architectural ensembles, historic buildings and cultural sites that form an important part of Europe’s cultural heritage. The students were particularly impressed by the combination of historic architecture and modern urban spaces, as well as the rich history of the city, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Germany.

While participating in the project, students from WUNU also had the opportunity to meet and interact with participants from Poland and Germany. Joint sessions, team tasks and socialising fostered intercultural exchange, the development of communication skills and the formation of friendships between students from different countries.

“This trip gave us not only new knowledge and international experience, but also a wealth of emotions, new acquaintances and memories. We saw a new country, chatted with students from all over the world, discovered German culture and traditions, and had an incredible time. For each of us, it was a truly special experience that inspired us to move forward, develop and not be afraid of new opportunities,” say the WUNU students.
