The renowned biathlete Dmytro Pidruchnyi visited WUNU
The Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Sport of West Ukrainian National University hosted a landmark event: a meeting between staff and the outstanding Ukrainian biathlete and captain of the Ukrainian men’s national team, Dmytro Pidruchnyi.
Dmytro Pidruchnyi is a man who has made his mark on the history of world sport. He is Ukraine’s first men’s world champion in the pursuit race, a European champion, a multiple medallist and champion at the Winter Universiade, a participant in the Winter Olympic Games and a long-standing leader of the Ukrainian biathlon team.
During the meeting, the renowned athlete shared the story of his professional career, spoke about the specifics of preparing for top-level competitions, and described how he won his most significant awards. Dmytro emphasised the importance of high-quality specialist education for future coaches and physical education specialists, as the development of Ukrainian sport and the nurturing of future champions depend on their expertise.
During the conversation, particular attention was paid to the importance of keeping the sporting front strong during these trying times for our country. The athlete noted that every competition under the blue and yellow flag is an important mission and an opportunity to remind the world of the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
