A new accessible space at WUNU
A meeting was recently held between Oksana Desyatnyuk, Rector of West Ukrainian National University, and representatives of the Student Council of the University Campus and the University Student Council of WUNU.
A new space – an accessible area – has been unveiled near Student Hall of Residence No. 1. This creative initiative was brought to life thanks to the joint efforts of student representatives and community members.
The area was designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind: it features specially equipped benches for people with special educational needs, as well as a path paved with tactile paving.
It is particularly symbolic that the youth space was opened in the university’s anniversary year – the 60th anniversary of West Ukrainian National University.
The opening was attended by staff from the Education and Research Centre for Social and Psychological Support and Resilience, student leaders and residents of the student campus. Rector Oksana Desyatnyuk welcomed those present and emphasised that the newly established venue is intended to serve as a place for relaxation, socialising and the exchange of ideas.
During the event, representatives of the student self-government and the university student council were commended for their active civic engagement, their significant contribution to the development of university life, and their work on youth initiatives.
The participants presented the results of their work, spoke about the projects they had carried out and shared their plans for the future. The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a photo album containing pictures from all the events organised by the student campus.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to discuss new avenues for the development of youth policy at West Ukrainian National University.
