A commemorative event marking the 100th anniversary of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn’s birth was held at WUNU
The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn (1926–2016) – an outstanding Ukrainian economist, public figure, patron of the arts and philosopher of international renown. To mark this occasion, 2026 has been declared the Year of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, and a series of commemorative events is taking place in Ukraine and beyond, aimed at honouring his memory and promoting the values to which he dedicated his life.
Teachers and students from the B. Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations, along with staff from the L. Kanishchenko Library of West Ukrainian National University, took part in this campaign to mark the 100th anniversary of Bohdan Havrylyshyn. Joining forces, representatives of both departments planted sunflowers — a symbol of light, hope and faith in the future — honouring the memory of this outstanding Ukrainian and continuing the tradition of nurturing his ideas and values.
This symbolic gesture served as a tribute to Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, who devoted his entire life to the development of responsible leadership, public service and the promotion of humanistic values.
