WUNU students have co-organised the national final of the CTF Junior League 2026
The final of the CTF Junior League 2026 All-Ukrainian Cybersecurity Competition – one of the largest youth projects in the field of cybersecurity and information technology in Ukraine – took place in Kyiv.
Students of West Ukrainian National University helped to organise and run the event. The co-organisers were Vadym Tylnyi, a third-year student in the IPZ-31 group of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies, and Pavlo Svizinskyi, a second-year student specialising in ‘Cybersecurity’. Both students are founders of the VAPAN IT community https://www.instagram.com/vapan_it?igsh=MTg2ejBwdng4a3B5NQ==.
This year, the finalists represented 15 regions of Ukraine: Volyn, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as the city of Kyiv. The youngest finalist was just 13 years old, whilst the majority of participants were young people aged 15–18, who demonstrated a high level of knowledge and practical skills in the field of cybersecurity.
During the final competition, the young participants undertook practical tasks in web security, cryptography, digital forensics, network security, OSINT and other areas of cyber security. The event also served as a platform for sharing experiences, professional networking and promoting a culture of cyber safety among young people.
The winners of the final were: RJ 45 – 1st place; potasovka – 2nd place; unpail child labor – 3rd place.
The event was organised by the Institute for Cyberwarfare Research, Spilnoshkola, Academy U, New Education Format, the Cyber Development Centre and the VAPAN community. Lenovo Ukraine was the event’s main partner.
The organisers emphasise that success in the field of cybersecurity requires continuous development, hands-on experience and teamwork. They recommend that young professionals actively participate in CTF competitions, bug bounty programmes, technical communities and their own research projects.
The involvement of students from West Ukrainian National University in organising such a large-scale nationwide event is testament to the high standard of their education, their professional competence and their active participation in the development of Ukraine’s modern cybersecurity community.
We congratulate Vadym Tylnyi and Pavlo Svizinskyi on the successful completion of this important educational project and wish them every success in their future professional endeavours!
