The Faculty of Economics and Management at WUNU hosted an engaging academic debate entitled ‘Building Team Spirit’, attended by students from the ‘Management’, ‘Human Resource Management’ and ‘Public Management and Administration’ programmes.

The relaxed, open-air setting at WUNU, along with plush beanbags, aromatic coffee and tea, sweets, light music, and lively discussions, created a unique space for socializing, teamwork, and the emergence of creative ideas.

The event was organised by Zoriana Pushkar and Inna Chykalo, associate professors at the Department of Management, Public Administration and Human Resources.

At the start of the meeting, Zoriana Pushkar emphasised that when studying subjects such as ‘Team Management’, ‘Conflict Management and Mediation’, ‘Management’ and ‘Human Resource Management’, it is extremely important for future leaders and managers to learn how to foster team spirit, work together, listen to one another and build effective teamwork.

The academic debate was also attended by Andrii Kotsur, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, who welcomed the students and noted that working in such an environment is an invaluable experience for the development of a modern manager.

Acting Head of Department Ruslan Avhustyn emphasised the importance of teamwork, communication and the ability to listen to one another, as these are the cornerstones of effective management.

Hryhorii Monastyrskyi noted that even in these difficult times of war, it is essential to continue living, learning, developing and building strong teams capable of bringing about change in society.

Sofiia Cheliadyn and Valeriia Pretus, students of the MEN-31 group, familiarised participants with the rules of academic debating and proved to be excellent moderators for the event. The judging panel comprised a team of managers alongside lecturers from the department, Zhanna Krysko, Nataliia Kotys and Zoriana Pushkar, and professors Alina Zhukovska and Hryhorii Monastyrskyi.

The participants split into two teams — ‘Sunnies’ and ‘Aluminium 3’ — and took part in seven exciting rounds: they answered questions, asked questions of the opposing team, put forward their arguments, learnt to listen, and built a foundation of trust.

The victory went to the ‘Sunnies’ team, who demonstrated true unity, a friendly atmosphere and the best examples of what lies at the heart of team spirit.

The winners received certificates and sweet treats, while the Aluminium 3 team received a certificate for their active participation and excellent teamwork.

These gatherings are not just about science, but also about shared experiences, support, leadership development and building a genuine team of like-minded people!
