The second day of the “Science in Partnership” educational and scientific project at West Ukrainian National University was filled with new knowledge, new connections, and hands-on experience. It was on this day that the “Living Science” research phase began, offering high school students the opportunity to immerse themselves directly in the world of experiments.

The participants visited the training laboratory for agricultural and food technologies focused on the quality of raw materials and finished products at the Department of Agrobiotechnology, where they learned about modern approaches to studying the quality of resources and products.

The head of the Department of Agrobiotechnology, Dr. Antin Shuvar (Doctor of Agricultural Sciences), the head of the Department of Ecology and Public Health, Leonid Bytsiura (PhD in Economics), and laboratory director Svitlana Stanislavchuk addressed the high school students with welcoming remarks. They emphasized the importance of developing modern agricultural technologies, environmental safety, and health preservation, and outlined the wide range of opportunities for young people in the fields of science and professional growth.

The practical component sparked great interest. Laboratory Director Svitlana Stanislavchuk, Associate Professor Taras Mandzii, and First-Class Engineer Tetiana Hroholska, conducted a water quality analysis using the titration method for the students. The high school students participated directly in the analyses, gained new knowledge, and felt like real researchers.

The event was also attended by Mariia Shesterniak, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor in the Department of Auditing, and Deputy Director of the Education and Research Centre of Communications—who serves as the coordinator of the “Science in Partnership” educational and research project at WUNU. Assoc. Prof. Shesterniak offered her support to the participants and emphasized the importance of the practical component in implementing the initiative.

The “Living Science” research phase demonstrated that science is not merely theoretical knowledge, but above all an exciting process of discovery that fosters critical thinking, practical skills, and an interest in exploring the world.
