International scientific internship for an associate professor from WUNU at Jagiellonian University (Poland)
Between 1 and 30 April 2026, Yaroslav Chaikovskyi, Associate Professor at the Department of FinTech and Banking of West Ukrainian National University, undertook an international scientific internship at Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Republic of Poland). Assoc. Prof. Chaikovskyi is a recipient of the Queen Jadwiga Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Jagiellonian University is one of the oldest universities in Europe and an important centre for the development of science, education and international academic cooperation. The internship was based at the Department of International Finance and Economics within the Institute of Economics, Finance and Management, Faculty of Management and Social Communications.
As part of the internship, research was carried out in the university’s libraries, including the main library and the library of the Faculty of Management and Social Communications; consultations were held with the academic supervisor; and discussions took place on current issues relating to the development of the banking systems in Poland and Ukraine, modern financial technologies, and the maintenance of financial stability.
Associate Professor Chaikovskyi paid particular attention to exploring the university’s academic and cultural heritage. In particular, he visited the Jagiellonian University Museum (Collegium Maius) – one of the oldest university buildings in Europe – as well as the Jagiellonian University Botanical Garden – one of the oldest botanical gardens, which is an important part of the university’s scientific infrastructure.
The internship resulted in a deeper understanding of theoretical knowledge and improved practical skills in the field of banking, the expansion of international academic networks, and an insight into contemporary approaches to the organisation of the educational process and academic research within the European academic community.
