Conference: ‘Current Trends in Philological and Pedagogical Research: National and International Perspectives’

 On 20 March 2026, the staff of the Department of Foreign Languages and Information and Communication Technologies of WUNU held their annual international scientific and practical conference entitled ‘Current Trends in Philological and Pedagogical Research: National and International Perspectives’.


The aim of the conference was to improve the effectiveness of research work, discuss current issues in philology and pedagogy in the context of foreign-language training for students at higher education institutions, exchange experiences, and identify prospects for further research and international cooperation in the field of contemporary philological and pedagogical issues.


Lyudmyla Havrylyuk-Yensen, Director of the B. D. Havrylyshyn Institute of International Relations, and Mykola Dyvak, Vice-Rector for Research at WUNU, offered welcoming remarks to the conference participants and students.


The following researchers also presented their work: Thomas Bauer, Dr., Dr. h. c.; Maryna Tsehelska, Ph.D., TESOL-Ukraine Board Coordinator and Associate Professor at Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University; Brian Benjamin,American entrepreneur and educator; Arkadiusz Pietluch, PhD in Linguistics, Assistant Professor at the University of Rzeszów, Poland; Yulia Tarasenko, a postgraduate student at West Ukrainian National University, and others.


The conference focused on discussing issues in linguistics, translation studies, literary studies and intercultural communication, methods of teaching foreign languages, and other contemporary philological and pedagogical issues. It marks the 60th anniversary of West Ukrainian National University's founding and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn — an outstanding Ukrainian, scholar, patron of the arts, and public figure of international standing.


The conference consisted of plenary and sectional meeting sessions.


The international scientific and practical conference ‘Current Trends in Philological and Pedagogical Research: National and International Perspectives’ served as a platform for new ideas, projects and professional development.
