West Ukrainian National University has signed a partnership agreement with ISLA Santarém – Polytechnic University (Portugal).

The signed agreement opens up new opportunities for academic mobility among students and staff, joint research, international conferences and the implementation of educational projects. During the official meetings, which were attended by Uliana Koruts, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research, and Olga Tsaryk, Director of the International Centre for Culture and Development and Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT, detailed discussions were held on expanding the scope of the bilateral partnership. The parties agreed on a plan to implement joint initiatives, including academic exchanges under the Erasmus+ programme, the development of double degree programmes, the preparation of joint grant applications for participation in European research funding programmes, and the development of the university’s international profile.

During their stay in Portugal, the delegation from West Ukrainian National University actively participated in the events of International Staff Week 2026 – ‘AI-Driven and Sustainable Futures for Higher Education’, which focused on the application of artificial intelligence in higher education and strategies for sustainable development.

During her visit, Olga Tsaryk held a workshop entitled ‘Co-creating AI-Enabled and Sustainable Projects’, which served as a platform for developing innovative projects and strengthening WUNU’s standing on the international stage by establishing new academic ties with leading international experts.

WUNU administration would like to express its gratitude to its Portuguese colleagues, and in particular to Dean João Farinha, for their great hospitality.
The formalisation of cooperation with ISLA Santarém marks a new stage in the university’s integration into the European educational space, creating a solid foundation for the realisation of global academic goals and the professional development of students and the academic staff.
