Maksym Lavryk, a student at WUNU, represented Ukraine at the European Athletics Throwing Cup
The European Athletics Throwing Cup took place on 14–15 March in Nicosia (Cyprus). This prestigious international tournament brought together around 600 athletes from 28 countries, who competed in the shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw.
Maksym Lavryk, a student at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of West Ukrainian National University, competed for the Ukrainian national team in the under-23 (U23) age group. In the shot put event, Maksym achieved a distance of 16.37 metres, finishing 11th in the final standings.
It is worth noting that this result marks a new personal best for the athlete in the senior shot put event, reflecting our student’s systematic training and consistent sporting progress on the international stage. In the overall team standings, the Ukrainian men’s junior team finished in 7th place.
We are proud of the excellent representation of the university and the country at the highest level. We wish Maksym every success in continuing to improve his skills and reaching new sporting heights.
