The community of the Yerevan Education and Research Institute of WUNU honoured the memory of Taras Shevchenko
The staff of the Yerevan Education and Research Institute of West Ukrainian National University organised a literary event dedicated to the 212th anniversary of the birth of the great Ukrainian poet, artist and ethnographer Taras Shevchenko.
The event was attended by Valerii Lobach, Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia, Roman Balayan, distinguished Ukrainian film director, screenwriter and producer, Saak Gudratyan, director of the institute, administrative and teaching staff, students, employees of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia, as well as Marianna Navasardyan, Director of Taras Shevchenko Senior School No. 42, school employees and students, other organisations and individuals.
During the event, speeches dedicated to the writer were given by Valerii Lobach, Saak Gudratyan, and Artem Ambartsumyan, head of the Youth Organisation of Ukrainians in Armenia. Poems were recited by students of the WUNU and pupils of Taras Shevchenko Senior School No. 42.
At the end of the event, all those present laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
