Lecture by Teun-Pieter de Snoo, lecturer at the Netherlands Police Academy, entitled “Resilience in crisis conditions: psychological foundations – the case of police officer training.”
West Ukrainian National University hosted a lecture by Teun-Pieter de Snoo, a lecturer at the Netherlands Police Academy (Politieacademie) and a doctoral student at Radboud University's Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour, on the topic of "Resilience in crisis conditions: psychological foundations of effectiveness – the case of police officer training."
The online meeting brought together teachers, researchers, practitioners, and officers from the Department of Chief Inspectorate and Human Rights Compliance of the National Police of Ukraine.
The lecture aroused considerable interest among the audience, as Teun-Pieter de Snoo combined scientific insight and methodological rigor with practical experience in police training, exploring how psychological tools and strategies help officers respond effectively in crisis conditions. His presentation focused on psychological training, optimizing behavioral responses in stressful conditions, and developing resilience.
During the lecture, the speaker emphasized that biofeedback training is an effective tool for developing resilience, as it allows for real-time regulation of one's state. The lecturer also emphasized that training under conditions of increased stress contributes to the formation of self-regulation skills. The DUST program, which combines scientific approaches with police practice, was considered as an example.
We would like to thank Teun-Pieter de Snoo for his insightful report, interesting presentation, and relevant recommendations on improving professional resilience!
