West Ukrainian National University hosted a final briefing event to present the results of the pilot project ‘Strengthening Governance Resilience for EU Integration – Cross-Sectoral Dialogue’. The initiative was implemented in cooperation with the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, the Folke Bernadotte Academy - the Swedish Agency for Peace, Security and Development, and the public organisation ‘Resilient Ukraine’.

The project aims to support Ukraine's European integration, strengthen local governance capacity, and develop practical solutions for the effective European integration of the Ternopil region in wartime. Event participants summarised the project's implementation, reviewed the results of a survey of local communities in the region conducted by the NGO ‘Resilient Ukraine’ and discussed the findings of interviews with representatives of various sectors. The presentation included a discussion of the key findings of the study and an exchange of views on Ukraine's progress towards European Union membership at the regional level.

WUNU students had the opportunity to ask questions, share their ideas, and discuss formats for interaction and joint initiatives in the context of deepening European integration processes in the region. The meeting was attended by Uliana Koruts, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research of WUNU, who noted: "The issue of strengthening governance sustainability for integration into the European Union is not only relevant today — it is crucial for our future. European integration is not just about harmonising legislation or meeting formal criteria. First and foremost, it is a question of the quality of governance, trust, institutional capacity and a culture of cooperation."

Pavlo Zhurba emphasised that European integration primarily means developing high-quality institutions, strengthening public trust and enabling different sectors to work together. He noted: "The Ternopil region has significant potential, the realisation of which requires systematic improvement of management practices, strategic communications and inter-institutional cooperation. The results of the project will form the basis for further practical decisions aimed at strengthening the sustainability of governance in the context of war and contemporary challenges."
