Skills that help you survive: training at the WUNU Resilience Centre
This weekend, the Education and Research Centre for Social and Psychological Support and Resilience at WUNU became an oasis of strength, awareness and inner peace in these difficult times. In times of crisis, it is essential to have effective tools that help us maintain our equilibrium and support those around us.
On 24-25 January, the centre organised a training session entitled ‘Psychological self-help and helping others’ for a group of volunteers and university staff. The session focused on understanding stress and traumatic experiences and was conducted by representatives of the Israel Trauma Coalition: Zoya Sever (Israeli Army notification group officer, instructor), Ihor Mishunin (coalition instructor) and Zoriana Krupnyk (resilience centre specialist, associate professor of the Department of Psychology and Social Work at WUNU).
Participants explored how people experience stress and trauma, what reactions are natural, and what actually works in a crisis. Significant attention was paid to practical components: breathing techniques, methods for reducing tension, and simple actions for restoring a sense of control and safety.
We are sincerely grateful to the Israel Trauma Coalition team for their professionalism and sincerity.
With such knowledge, it is easier to maintain inner stability and pass it on to others.
