The first International Scientific Discussion Platform ‘Accounting, Taxation and Control: Theory and Methodology’, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the West Ukrainian National Universityy

 On 8 January 2026, the Department of Audit of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting of the West Ukrainian National University held the First International Scientific Discussion Platform ‘Accounting, Taxation and Control: Theory and Methodology’, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of West Ukrainian National Universityy. Within the framework of the platform, professional discussions were held on current issues of accounting, taxation and control. The event contributed to the strengthening of international scientific cooperation, the development of scientific research activities and the exchange of experience between representatives of the academic community and practitioners in the relevant field.


More than 150 participants from 10 countries took part in the event, including Ukraine, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Moldova, Poland, Malaysia and France.


The discussion platform was moderated by Valentyna Panasiuk, Head of the Audit Department at the West Ukrainian National Universityy, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine.


The first International Scientific Discussion Platform ‘Accounting, Taxation and Control: Theory and Methodology’ was opened by the rector of WUNU, Doctor of Economics, Professor Oksana Desyatnyuk. The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research (International Relations), Doctor of Law, Professor Uliana Koruts; Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Andriy Kizyma; President of Magnat Financial Company LLC, Honoured Worker of Education and Science of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Oksana Brodovska also welcomed the participants.


Foreign partner universities sent warm greetings through Dr. Elena Nifatova, Professor and Researcher at the University of Barcelona (Spain); Doctor of Economics, Professor Vani Velbrok from the University of Applied Sciences (Germany); and Doctor of Economics, Professor Natalia Gavkalova from the Warsaw University of Technology (Poland).


Prominent Ukrainian and foreign experts served as speakers at the scientific discussions held within the framework of the platform. In particular, the scientific discussion ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education: Problematic Aspects of Global Experience’ featured presentations by Oksana Adamyk, PhD, Associate Professor (Loughborough University, United Kingdom) and Nadiia Panasiuk, PhD, Director General of the CS Group Institute for Professional Development (Italy).


The academic discussion ‘Innovative Approaches to Taxation of Individuals and Legal Entities’ featured presentations by Petro Levchik, Senior Tax Assistant at BDO AG (Germany), as well as Vitalii Bobrivets, Chairman of the Board of PJSC ‘Ternopil City Gas’, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Auditing of the West Ukrainian National Universityy, and Yurii Ivanechko , Candidate of Economic Sciences, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Auditing of the West Ukrainian National Universityy, ‘Best Accountant of Ukraine 2016’.


The speakers at the academic discussion ‘Auditing in Ukraine: Challenges, Opportunities, Prospects’ were Nelia Proskurina, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Accounting and Taxation at Zaporizhzhia National University, certified auditor; Mykhailo Sahaidak, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Management at Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University (Ukraine); Mykhailo Luchko, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Auditing at the West Ukrainian National Universityy, certified auditor, director and key partner at Ter Audit LLC (Ukraine); Iryna Shchyba, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Research Fellow at the Department of Banking, Accounting and Finance at Nottingham University Business School, Certified Auditor (United Kingdom).


The speakers at the scientific discussion ‘Tools for combating fraud in the financial security system of an enterprise’ included Dmytro Sushko, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Auditor, Forensic Expert, Managing Partner of MGI PSP Audit, Member of the Board of the Audit Chamber of Ukraine, Member of Legislative Committees on Auditing in Ukraine; and Vanya Demich, Criminal psychologist, polygraph examiner, specialist in combating fraud and dishonest practices (Argentina).


The key panelists of the scientific discussion ‘Auditing in the Context of the Technological Revolution 6.0’ were Olena Sokhatska, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations at the West Ukrainian National Universityy (Ukraine), and Oksana Chereshniuk, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Auditing at the West Ukrainian National Universityy (Ukraine).


The scientific discussion "Audit in the inclusive economy system: Opportunities and Limitations" was led by speakers Olena Ptaschenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics and Informatics at the West Ukrainian National Universityy (Ukraine), and Alina Zhukovska, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Auditing at the West Ukrainian National Universityy (Ukraine).


An important feature of the platform was the active participation of representatives of various professional and scientific circles, including Ukrainian and foreign scientists, stakeholders, practitioners in the field of accounting and auditing, postgraduate students, as well as students pursuing a master's degree, which ensured the interdisciplinary and applied nature of the discussion.


It should be noted that a significant number of invited speakers are graduates of the West Ukrainian National Universityy or former employees of the institution who have successfully pursued academic, scientific and professional careers in Ukraine and abroad. The combination of a deep understanding of the national context with relevant experience of working in international institutions is particularly valuable for refining the content of specialist training and shaping the expected learning outcomes.


Based on the results of the platform's work, an analytical note is to be prepared on new approaches to training specialists in demand on the modern labour market, in particular for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance and the State Audit Service of Ukraine.


At the end of the First International Scientific Discussion Platform, participants were presented with the textbook ‘Digital Technologies in Auditing,’ edited by Professor Valentyna Panasyuk. The publication summarises the latest research, practical cases and innovative approaches to the digitalisation of auditing. The textbook will be an effective resource for improving the qualifications of specialists and the quality of student training, and will contribute to the implementation of scientific developments in the daily practice of accountants and auditors.
