WUNU students visited the city of Iserlohn (Germany)
As part of the work of the International Centre for Culture and Development, students from the West Ukrainian National Universityy, specialising in 035 (B11) ‘Philology,’ paid a visit the city of Iserlohn in Germany. The group included students Adelia Kukharchuk, Khrystyna Kazmirchuk, Andrii Stravskyi, Viktor Slobodukh, Sviatoslav Bilinskyi, and professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT Olga Tsaryk.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT has been providing translation support to facilitate cooperation between Iserlohn and Ternopil within the framework of the ‘Twin Cities’ project, promoting effective communication and the development of partnership initiatives between the cities.
During the visit, meetings were held aimed at expanding cooperation and developing joint projects.
During the visit, the delegation visited the European University of Applied Sciences. A tour of the educational institution was organised for the participants. This was followed by talks between the Ukrainian delegation and the Deputy Dean, Professor Britta Runau, and Master of Business Administration Christina Mutzu, where educational programmes and innovative approaches to teaching were presented and possible areas of academic and youth cooperation were discussed.
Meetings with employees of the Iserlohn City Council, namely Mayor Michael Jöte, City Council Deputy Sylvia Olbrich, member of the United Ukrainians public organisation committee Khrystyna Kozakul, and City Council press officer Manuela Bönne, were an important part of the visit. During the informal meeting, the prospects for further cooperation, support for Ukraine, and the implementation of joint projects were discussed.
Another pleasant surprise was meeting Svitlana Hladun and Kateryna Ryltsova, students at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, who moved to Germany due to the full-scale invasion and are now doing an internship at the Iserlohn City Council.
We sincerely thank our German partners for their hospitality, openness and solidarity, and especially Silvia Olbrich for organising the visit and giving us such a warm welcome!
