On 25 and 26 November 2025, lecturers from the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance had the opportunity to participate in the international scientific conference ‘Axiology of the Legal System: Theory and Practice,’ held at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Italy).

The event was attended by experts in law, philosophy and economics from Poland, Italy, Ukraine, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The conference programme included six thematic sessions and nearly 40 speakers. Discussions focused on the axiological foundations of modern legal systems, the relationship between law, economics and values, as well as the ethical and psychological challenges of the digital age. Participants emphasised the need to find a common foundation of values in the legal systems of different countries and noted the important role of ethics in the context of new technologies, artificial intelligence, and challenges related to military conflicts and social transformations.

We sincerely thank the organizers for the invitation and the excellent event organization, in particular our long-standing partners: Professor Janusz Kowal of the Department of Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University and Professor Justyna Krywkowskaya of the University of Warmia and Mazury. All participants from West Ukrainian National University received certificates of participation.

This year, our researchers participated online and remotely, representing the scientific potential of WUNU on an international platform. We sincerely hope that next year we will have the opportunity to participate in the conference in person and continue the important dialogue on the role of values in modern law, economics, and society.
