WUNU students paid a virtual visit to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation (DG Translation)
Students majoring in Philology and teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages and ICT of WUNU took part in the annual virtual visit to the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation (DG Translation), which provided them with an opportunity to learn about the daily work of EU translators and find out more about modern translation practices in European institutions.
The event programme included an introductory presentation about DG Translation (in English) and virtual breakout rooms for each of the 24 official EU languages, as well as Ukrainian, where students could talk directly to translators and ask questions about their professional activities.
Participants learned about the work of European Commission translators, familiarised themselves with the tools, technologies and translation methods used at DG Translation, and gained insight into the skills required to work as a translator in EU institutions, translation specialisations, and opportunities for employment and internships at the European Commission.
