The University of Bergen (Norway) is announcing a competition for seed funding grants to support research related to Ukraine and Ukrainian studies as part of the Ukrainett+ project (2024–2026).

The initiative aims to deepen cooperation between Norwegian and Ukrainian scientific and educational institutions, develop academic partnerships, and stimulate joint research and project activities.

Main conditions: deadline for applications is 1 November 2025; total budget for the competition is NOK 400,000, divided into six competition stages; maximum funding amount for one application is NOK 50,000; each project must have at least one Norwegian institution (coordinator) and one Ukrainian partner; funding may cover travel, seminars, workshops, networking events and other activities aimed at developing joint research; funds must be used by the end of 2026.

Applications will be considered based on the following criteria: academic quality of the proposal, relevance of the research topic, contribution to the development of cooperation between Ukraine and Norway, feasibility of the implementation plan, and soundness of the budget.

After submission, external review takes place. The decision on funding allocation is made 6–9 weeks after the application deadline.

The application form is available at: https://skjemaker.app.uib.no/view.php?id=19990757

Upon completion of the project, all funding recipients are required to submit a short report within two months of the project's completion. The report should describe the scientific findings, impact, and benefits of the grant received. To this end, the organisers will send a simplified reporting template to all grant recipients.

This initiative is a great chance to deepen cooperation with Norwegian universities and develop the international research potential of West Ukrainian National University.
