The 5th Bohdan Havrylyshyn International Scientific Readings, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the West Ukrainian National University
Responsibility Day, celebrated on 19 October – Bohdan Hawrylyshyn's birthday – serves as a reminder of the power of personal and civic responsibility for all those who shape the modern world. Soon, on 24 October, the world will celebrate United Nations Day, a day that symbolises humanity's joint efforts for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
Both dates reflect a shared philosophy of responsibility, solidarity and respect for human dignity. It is these principles that affirm the values of an open, peaceful and responsible world, which the West Ukrainian National University is committed to creating.
On 23 October 2025, the B. Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations will host the 5th Bohdan Havrylyshyn International Scientific Readings, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the West Ukrainian National University.
Event organisers: West Ukrainian National University; Bohdan Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations; Department of International Relations and Diplomacy; Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation; Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Ternopil and Ternopil Region; University of Portsmouth (United Kingdom); University of Brescia (Italy); Sokhumi State University (Georgia); Bratislava University of Economics and Management (Slovakia); Silesian Academy (Republic of Poland).
The thematic areas of research will include the following topics: history of international relations and diplomacy; foreign policy and diplomacy; Ukraine in the system of international relations; public communications and media diplomacy; regionalisation of international relations in conditions of global turbulence; Ukraine in conditions of military aggression: social, economic and environmental challenges; modern strategies for sustainable development in a global environment.
The 5th Bohdan Havrylyshyn International Scientific Readings are not only a scientific event, but also a manifestation of deep respect for the legacy of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, a man who reminded the world that responsibility begins with each of us.
