The Second International Financial Forum ‘Fintech and Digital Transformation of the Financial Market: Vision for the Development of Banking and Insurance Business’ has begun at WUNU
The Second International Financial Forum, organised by the Department of Financial Technologies and Banking Business in cooperation with the Ukrainian-American Association of College Educators, began its work at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting of the West Ukrainian National University.
The event brought together Ukrainian and foreign experts, business leaders, financial intermediaries, and representatives of the scientific community who are interested in issues of digital transformation of the financial market and the introduction of modern financial technologies in the banking and insurance sectors.
University Rector Oksana Desyatnyuk welcomed the forum participants, emphasising the importance of such scientific and practical meetings: "West Ukrainian National University warmly welcomes the participants of the II International Financial Forum, which brings together leading experts, scientists, practitioners, businessmen and those who seek to develop the banking and insurance sectors. It is very gratifying that our students — our youth, our future — are also joining the forum. We are training a new generation of specialists — leaders of the digital age who know how to think strategically, act ethically and implement bold decisions in the real financial environment. And I am convinced that it is precisely such people who will create a competitive, technological and transparent Ukraine.
West Ukrainian National University has always been at the forefront of innovative processes. Holding the forum at WUNU is symbolic, as over its 60-year history, the university has produced outstanding financial schools and specialists who bring fame to our alma mater not only in Ukraine but also far beyond its borders.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all forum partners, our international colleagues, experts, and scientists who will share their experience and vision for the development of the Fintech industry. Thanks to you, this event is becoming not just a discussion platform, but a real intellectual hub for developing strategies for the future."
The Chairman of the Academic Council of the University, Head of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance, Andriy Krysovatyy, drew attention to the deeper aspects of financial processes in the new era of technology, noting: "I sincerely congratulate the forum participants, scientists, practitioners, financial sector experts, representatives of business and the academic community on the opening of the II International Financial Forum dedicated to the extremely important topic of digital transformation of the financial market and the development of the Fintech industry.
The new era is changing the philosophy of thinking. We are on the verge of a change in financial matters — moving from linear models to nonlinear, multifactorial architectonics of finance. The basis for this transition is the latest financial technologies. The focus is on Fintech and artificial intelligence, entities in the banking and insurance sectors. We are forming a new paradigm based not only on synergy, but also on collective understanding and the latest technological processes. Our task is to develop scientific platforms that will protect us from potential challenges so that they do not become threats. After all, today the basis of finance is not only economic efficiency, but also the security of businesses, insurance organisations and people.
Forum participants also focused on the current challenges of the digital age, which require the development of new models of financial security. These include cyber threats, possible attacks by an aggressor country, building digital trust, managing cyber risks, ensuring financial inclusion, and creating an effective regulatory environment. That is why such forums are not only platforms for exchanging experience, but also powerful catalysts for interdisciplinary research combining economics, finance, IT, law, and management. The international nature of the forum is of particular importance. The participation of foreign experts and partners contributes to Ukraine's integration into the global scientific and economic space, as well as the formation of new knowledge and competencies that will determine our country's competitiveness in the global financial market.
The key topics of discussion at the Second International Financial Forum include the following: the paradigm of security in the development of the financial business space in the digital age; the digitalisation of the banking market: new coordinates in conditions of global uncertainty; turbulence in the insurance market in the era of digitalisation.
"We live in a time when digital technologies are changing the nature of financial services, opening up unprecedented opportunities for development in the banking and insurance businesses. Artificial intelligence, blockchain, open platforms, big data — all of these are becoming not only tools for efficiency, but also catalysts for trust between people, businesses and the state. At the same time, digital transformation is not just a technical upgrade, but above all a change in thinking, values, and management models. That is why the synergy between science, education, business, and government that our forum provides is extremely important," emphasised Pavlo Zhurba, Deputy Head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration.
Such events once again confirm that WUNU is a powerful platform for scientific initiatives and international dialogue, where new ideas, technological solutions, and strategies for the development of the financial system of the future are born.
