The Department of Agrobiotechnology at the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management, and Infrastructure of the West Ukrainian National University has opened a modern laboratory for agricultural and food technologies, raw material quality, and finished products. The laboratory will host practical classes for students majoring in agronomy, food technology, and horticulture.

Students will be able to study plant physiology, botany, microbiology, agrochemistry, physical, organic, and analytical chemistry, soil science, as well as disciplines related to food safety, processing technologies, storage, preparation, quality assessment, and safety control in depth.

Under the guidance of scientific experts, young men and women will work with the biometric and physiological parameters of plants, determine grain quality indicators, study soil properties, and measure environmental parameters.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ternopil State Agricultural Research Station, including Acting Director of the Ternopil State Agricultural Research Station of the Carpathian Region Nadia Kovalyshyn and Scientific Secretary Halyna Sydoruk. Ihor Bortnyk, Lead Production Training Manager at Continental Farmers Group, also took part in the event. Our colleagues have been working closely with scientists from WUNU for several years. WUNU Rector Oksana Desyatnyuk thanked everyone who contributed to the creation of the laboratory and assured that this opens up new opportunities for the university in the development of scientific research.

Head of the Department of Agrobiotechnology, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Antin Shuvar introduced guests to the operation of the latest laboratory equipment and demonstrated the capabilities of microscopic research.

Students from the Institute also shared their impressions. They said that during classes they study samples in detail under a microscope, sketch what they see, and take scientific notes.

The opening of the laboratory is an important step towards improving the quality of practical training for students in the field of agricultural and food technologies. Modern equipment and new methods will allow students not only to consolidate their theoretical knowledge, but also to gain valuable practical skills that they will be able to apply in their future professional activities.

The total cost of the equipment is almost 1.7 million UAH.
