New milestones in cooperation with Japanese partners in the field of finance
International cooperation between universities is one of the key factors in integration into the global educational and scientific space. It opens up access to new intellectual resources, creates a favorable environment for the development of joint research projects, the dissemination of innovations, and the improvement of the competitiveness of educational programs.
In the context of strengthening international cooperation, an introductory meeting was held at the West Ukrainian National University between the faculty of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance and Professor Haruyoshi Ito of the Aoyama Business School at Aoyama Gakuin University (Tokyo, Japan). The meeting began with a presentation during which Oksana Koval, Associate Professor of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance, introduced her Japanese colleague to the main areas of activity of the department and the achievements of the university, and shared her experience of integrating the teaching curriculum with practical aspects of financial science.
In his welcoming speech, Professor Andriy Krysovatyy, Head of the Department of Finance, emphasised the importance of international cooperation in improving the quality of higher education and developing a modern academic environment. Professor Zoriana Lobodina conveyed her greetings to the guest and noted the value of exchanging experience and knowledge between universities.
Prof. Ito, representing the Dean of Aoyama Business School, Prof. Takamichi Hosoda, expressed interest in developing partnerships and exchanges of experience between institutions, emphasising the importance of supporting Ukrainian students and researchers in the current circumstances.
Professor Volodymyr Horyn noted the role of the department in shaping students' practical skills and developing the professional potential of future specialists. Associate Professors Volodymyr Valihura and Viktoriia Sidliar spoke about their experience of integrating academic disciplines with practical projects and international initiatives.
The discussion focused on the main avenues for cooperation between the universities: developing academic mobility, in particular the participation of students and teachers in educational events and exchange programmes; joint research projects and participation in grant competitions. Another important topic was the prospect of exchanging research results through participation in international scientific forums and conferences. Representatives of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance invited Professor Ito to join the International Financial Forum, which is held annually at WUNU and brings together the scientific elite from the best higher education institutions in Ukraine and abroad, as well as to the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Communication as a Factor of Transparency in Social Interaction. The Era of Digitalisation,’ which will focus on issues related to the development of communications in the financial sector.
The participants focused on the prospects of signing an interinstitutional cooperation agreement, which will establish comprehensive mechanisms for interaction between universities, promote knowledge exchange, and serve as a basis for expanding educational and scientific contacts.
At the end of the meeting, the faculty members of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance expressed their sincere gratitude to Professor Haruyoshi Ito for his willingness to partner with them, and also thanked the Japanese people for their consistent support of Ukraine in its fight for independence and democratic values.
