A lecture by Krzysztof Jerzy Filipiak was held at WUNU
The West Ukrainian National University hosted an open lecture by Krzysztof Jerzy Filipiak, Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Medical Education (Warsaw, Republic of Poland) on the topic: Medicine Beyond Borders: Health Challenges in Exotic Destinations. The event brought together students, teachers and all those interested in modern approaches in the field of medicine and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
In his lecture, the professor focused on current challenges in cardiology, presented the results of international studies on the impact of nutrition on the risk of cardiovascular disease, and shared recommendations for prevention. In particular, he discussed the main risk factors: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, chronic inflammation, and unhealthy habits.
In addition to the research part, the professor shared his own experience of working and living in different countries around the world. He talked about medical practices in Uzbekistan, the experience of the Institute of Cardiology in Granada, Spain, as well as his travels to Papua New Guinea and Madagascar. The professor showed photographs illustrating the conditions in local hospitals and cultural characteristics.
His story allowed students to view medicine not only as a science, but also as an important element of culture, social development, and global challenges of today. Such meetings are valuable for the university community, as they shape international experience and motivate students to engage in scientific research.
