Initiation of first-year students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of WUNU
On September 18, the Taras Shevchenko Academic Drama Theater in Ternopil was filled with uplifting emotions, festive atmosphere, and a sense of unity.
It was here that the first-year students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the West Ukrainian National University were officially inducted. Under the slogan “Ukraine is free, united, and indivisible!”, a new generation of students officially began their new journey toward knowledge, personal development, and self-realization.
The theater hall was filled with joy, pride, and sincere emotions. Among those present were teachers, parents, friends, and, of course, the stars of the show—the first-year students. Warm words of welcome were spoken from the stage by Uliana Koruts, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research at WUNU. She addressed the students with encouraging words, emphasizing the importance of education as the key to future achievements and stressing the importance of boldly pursuing one's dreams without fear of challenges and change. Oksana Homotiuk, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, not only congratulated the first-year students, but also spoke about the unique opportunities offered by the faculty, where every student has the opportunity to realize their potential — whether it be in academics, creativity, or leadership. The heads of the faculty's departments also expressed their support. Their speeches were filled with motivation, care, and professional wisdom, urging students not to rest on their laurels, to constantly improve, and to take advantage of all the opportunities that the university offers them.
The highlight of the celebrations was the presentation of student ID cards and commemorative gifts with the faculty's symbols. The festive atmosphere was punctuated by outstanding performances. Renowned Ukrainian writer, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, composer, and faculty lecturer Serhii Lazo gave the audience an emotional musical performance. Another powerful chord was struck by the dance performance of first-year student Khrystyna Palii, who represented the New Ject Dance team. The real highlight of the evening was the performances of faculty student Bohdan Andriychuk and WUNU soloist Ilona Diadko.
The award ceremony for the winners of the TikTok contest, which took place the day before, attracted much attention from the young people. The participants received prizes, and the contest itself served as proof that the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities is keeping up with the times by supporting student initiatives, creativity, and self-expression.
