New milestones in cooperation with Japanese universities
On 28-29 August 2025, the teaching staff, students and postgraduates of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance of the West Ukrainian National University had the opportunity to participate in the first International Valuism Conference 2025, which was held in Kyoto (Japan).
The event was organised by the Centre for Values Research at Doshisha University. Its activities are aimed at developing a system for measuring, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the creation and destruction of values that organisations form in interaction with key stakeholder groups: their own structures, shareholders, customers, employees, partners, society and the planet.
Over two days, in panel discussions and interdisciplinary dialogues, global experts from Japan, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Australia, the United States, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and other countries presented their vision of transformational processes in society and business.
Sincere gratitude to the conference organiser and moderator, Professor Philip Sugai of Doshisha University, as well as to a long-time colleague, partner and friend of WUNU, Professor Will Baber of Kyoto University, for their kind invitation and comprehensive support of Ukrainian scholars in the international arena. Special thanks to the organising committee and Doshisha University postgraduate student Ms Doina Hyuso for her diligent support, from registration to participation in events, as well as for her kindness and sincere support.
The participation of the S. I. Yuriy Department of Finance of the West Ukrainian National University in the Valuism Conference 2025 was an important step in expanding academic cooperation and integrating the university into the global research community working to shape a value-based future. It is symbolic that this event took place at Doshisha University, one of the oldest and most prestigious private higher education institutions in Japan, founded in 1875. Today, Doshisha has about 30,000 students, is one of Japan's ‘Global 30’ universities, and is a member of the influential ‘Kan-Kan-Dō-Ritsu’ group, which brings together the four leading private universities in the Kansai region.
