Successful completion of the training course ‘Public Diplomacy Studio 6.0’ at WUNU
The Centre for Political Studies of the West Ukrainian National University hosted an award ceremony for students, postgraduates and lecturers of the Serhiy Konoval Department of Political Science and Philosophy of the B. Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations. All of them successfully completed the training course ‘Public Diplomacy Studies 6.0’, which earned the participants 1.0 ECTS credits.
The course covered the most relevant aspects of modern international communications and diplomacy. The ceremony was attended by guests of honour: Maksym Zhyvko, Deputy Director of the B. Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations; Sviatoslav Pytel, Director of the Education and Research Institute of Advanced Educational Technologies; and Tetiana Cholach, Head of the Serhiy Konoval Department of Political Science and Philosophy.
During the event, participants shared their impressions of the training. The module ‘Geopolitical Narratives and International Communications: Senegal's Communication Strategy’ was particularly relevant, as it analysed in detail the formation of the country's image on the international stage, using historical and cultural context.
The module ‘How to create influential messages in communications’ became a key element of the programme. At this stage, participants learned to craft short but memorable statements that effectively attract the attention of target audiences.
Equally informative was the module ‘UNESCO in Educational and Cultural Communication: Ukraine's Experience,’ which examined successful examples of Ukraine's cooperation with UNESCO in preserving cultural heritage and promoting Ukrainian culture abroad.
A separate part of the training was devoted to ‘Diplomatic etiquette and protocol as a tool of international courtesy.’ Participants mastered not only the theoretical aspects of protocol (seating arrangements, order of speeches, conducting negotiations), but also the practical application of etiquette norms in the context of intercultural differences.
An essential part of the programme was ‘Strategic Communications in the Context of Ukraine-NATO’, which analysed our country's image in the North Atlantic alliance, focusing on work with official NATO channels and examples of cooperation.
The module ‘Regional Political Communications of Ukraine in the Middle East’ revealed the specifics of interaction with the states of this region, taking into account cultural, religious and historical characteristics. Participants studied examples of Ukrainian diplomatic initiatives, strategic directions of economic cooperation, investment projects and cultural exchanges.
Many found the module ‘Key narratives for recognition: successful cases in Ukraine’ particularly inspiring. It examined real-life examples of successful information campaigns that strengthened Ukraine's position on the world stage during crises and promoted Ukrainian IT products and culture.
The final module, ‘The Crisis of the International Relations System: Causes and Consequences,’ allowed participants to delve deeper into the contemporary processes that have led to a rethinking of traditional diplomacy.
The certificates were presented to the participants by Iryna Ivashchuk, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Senegal in Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor and Project Curator. Prof. Ivashchuk emphasised the importance of the knowledge gained and wished everyone success in its application.
At the end of the event, Iryna Ivashchuk shared her plans for future training sessions, inviting both students and teachers to participate in the next sessions and announcing the expansion of the programme with the addition of new topics.
