The Education and Research Centre for Communications of the West Ukrainian National University is actively expanding the horizons of international partnership by involving leading world experts in interdisciplinary cooperation.

A productive meeting was recently held between the director of the centre, Associate Professor Oksana Koval, and Professor Luca Rolle, clinical psychologist and head of the School of Health Psychology at the University of Turin. Diana Boiko (coordinator of the STEM laboratory), Maria Bryhadyr (associate professor at the Department of Psychology and Social Work), and Liliana Bilogorka (specialist at the centre) also joined the discussion.

The meeting focused on the current challenges that Ukrainian society is facing because of the war: the rise in psychological trauma, chronic stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder among veterans, internally displaced people, students, and other vulnerable groups. In wartime, scientifically based therapy methods and innovative mental health support techniques are especially important.

The parties discussed the prospects for the application of VR therapy – the use of virtual reality technologies – to overcome phobias, treat chronic stress, support an inclusive environment and promote the social adaptation of vulnerable groups. Professor Luca Rolle presented the scientific achievements of the University of Turin, particularly in the areas of psychological resilience, digital empowerment, support for unaccompanied minors, gender equality and violence prevention. Particular attention was paid to comprehensive approaches that combine clinical psychology, the latest digital tools and social responsibility.

During the meeting, prospects for future cooperation between WUNU and the University of Turin were outlined, including: signing bilateral agreements on academic and scientific partnership, implementing joint grant and government projects, creating an educational and scientific platform, and involving Professor Luca Rolle in international events at the West Ukrainian National University.

The Education and Research Centre for Communications of the West Ukrainian National University continues to strategically develop partnerships with leading global universities, opening up new opportunities for the development of science, education and practical cooperation in addressing complex social challenges.
