The second day of the Fifth International Week at WUNU!

 The second day of the Fifth International Week at West Ukrainian National University began with a meeting with foreign partners.


Vice-Rector for Research Mykola Dyvak discussed the organization of the international conference " Advanced Computer Information Technologies" (ACIT'2024) with his colleagues. The partners from Serbia, represented by Professor Stefan Panic, proposed to hold the conference in Serbia or Montenegro, as there is support from the IEEE chapters of these countries.


The day continued with the International Discussion Platform "Support of International Partners during the War and Postwar Reconstruction: Political, Economic, Educational and Scientific Dimensions," moderated by Hryhorii Monastyrskyi.


During the event, the participants discussed new challenges and threats to higher education in Ukraine under martial law and post-war reconstruction, the experience of foreign partners in supporting researchers and students of Ukrainian universities during the war, barriers to international cooperation in times of war: ways to overcome them, and prospects for internationalization of higher education in Ukraine in the period of post-war reconstruction. The discussion was attended by scientists and practitioners from Poland, Lithuania, Germany and Spain, the faculty of the departments of Management, Public Administration and Personnel, Economics and Economic Theory, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Trade, graduate and undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Management of WUNU.


Opening the international discussion platform, Uliana Koruts, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research, emphasized that the support of international partners in time of war is invaluable and thanked foreign colleagues for their assistance in the educational, scientific and humanitarian spheres.


The quintessence of the international participants' speeches was the unified position that Ukraine today defends the whole of Europe, is the guarantor of the preservation of civilized norms of freedom, compliance with international law and European values.


As part of the International Week, students of West Ukrainian National University met with European Youth Ambassadors Yulia Vaida and Tetiana Shelest to discuss EU opportunities for Ukrainian youth. The Youth European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative is a non-political, voluntary and dynamic network that brings together young people from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, the EU and the UK. The purpose of the platform is to inform young people about the cooperation between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries, demonstrate the results of this cooperation, and promote political dialogue and civic activism. The students enthusiastically communicated with the ambassadors and discussed professional development in the field of youth and diplomatic leadership.


As part of WUNU IW 2023, the Fourth International School of World Educational Practices "New Way" started at the Education and Research Institute of West Ukrainian National University. The topic of the Fourth School is crisis negotiation. The project aims to increase the level of competence in crisis negotiation in order to form a professional culture of a new generation of highly qualified specialists. The lecture "Crisis states. Principles of Help and Self-Help" was delivered by a psychotherapist in the field of positive psychotherapy, supervisor Tetiana Harhat. Yurii Stryzhevskyi, a practicing psychologist, hypnotherapist, military psychologist, crisis psychologist, and specialist in bio-suggestive therapy, spoke about psychotherapy in war.


The international forum "International Experience in Paying Reparations" was organized on the basis of the Law Faculty of WUNU. The professors and students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as foreign guests, discussed the topic "The Problem of Mediation in the European and National Social and Humanitarian Space". The work was opened by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Viktor Ostroverkhov, who thanked the partners of West Ukrainian National University for participating in the International Week 


The open challenge lecture "ESG (Environmental, social, governance) reporting in combination with the circular economy" within the framework of the environmental school of sustainable development management, delivered by Anetta Zielinska, PhD, Professor of Wroclaw University of Economics (Poland), Honorary Doctor of WUNU, was extremely interesting.


The day ended with a lecture by the coordinator of engineering programmes, Dr. René Teixeira, on "Implementation of Sustainable Development in Higher Education". The meeting was moderated by Leonid Bytsyura, Acting Head of the Department of Ecology and Health of the Education and Research Institute of Innovation, Nature Management and Infrastructure.
