Africa Day at the Classical University of Ternopil
Africa Day at the classic university of Ternopil is the most important annual event for all those who feel love for this wonderful continent in their hearts, regardless of their country.
The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions, honorary consuls, representatives of business and the public, heads of the diaspora of African countries in Ukraine, scientists and students.
Iryna Ivashchuk, director of B Havrylyshyn ERIIR noted in her introductory speech: “Today we celebrate Africa Day. This is an important holiday for us, because Ukrainian-African relations have a rich history. Students from African countries study in higher education institutions of Ukraine, in particular at West Ukrainian National University."
Oksana Desyatnyuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs (International Relations), stressed the importance of developing Ukrainian-African relations, public diplomacy and deepening cooperation in the cultural, educational and economic spheres.
We started with a presentation of the works of the #ArtGallery "Senegal - the pearl of West Africa". Photos of Senegal and paintings by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Senegal in Ukraine Iryna Ivashchuk were presented in the university hall. Participants also took part in the project "Ethno Workshop" "National motifs on canvas", in which guests drew a map of Africa and Ukraine, using national symbols.
There was a presentation of Senegalese cuisine, students majoring in "Hotel and Restaurant Business" together with representatives of the Senegalese community in Ukraine prepared national dishes of Senegal.
In conclusion, within the framework of Africa Day, a discussion platform "Ukraine - African countries: economic, educational and cultural dialogue" was held.
