Digital economics and civic education

 During September 4-8, 2018, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor at the Department of Economic Theory of TNEU O.V. Dluhopolskyi took part in the international conference "Brave New Worlds?! The Future of Democracy and Citizenship Education", organized by the Networking European Citizenship Education (NECE) in Marseille, France.


Speakers were public activists from more than 50 countries of the world. A separate option for the conference was the workshop on "Digitisation and citizenship education", which was held on September 5-6, and focused on changing civic education under the influence of new technologies, privacy and personal data protection, countering hate speech on the Internet, cybersecurity, etc.


Topics of speeches concerned the crisis of Western liberal democracies and world trends of "democratic recessions", the advancement of technological transformations that allow the digitization of texts, sounds and graphics, the loss of control over many processes of socio-economic life, political manipulation and the role of civic education in the advancement of democracy.


Participants of the conference had the opportunity to work in international teams, establishing informal contacts, exchange experience in conducting trainings in the context of civic education and democracy, and create project groups for work in future international projects.
