Working visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic to WUNU

 Anica Djamic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine, and Vitalii Zapukhliak, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia in the Western Region, paid a working visit to West Ukrainian National University.


In the Diplomatic Residence of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Croatia training studio, the guests networked and discussed the implementation of new international projects.


Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic thanked the university staff for the hospitable welcome and said: "It is a great pleasure to be here at West Ukrainian National University! Today we have a special mission to tell you about the Croatian-Ukrainian Dictionary. Lexicon is not just a set of words, it is something that connects our peoples across time and space!"


Rector of WUNU Oksana Desyatnyuk, welcoming the guests, said: "We are pleased that our cooperation with Croatian colleagues is developing and improving! We are pleased to join the presentation of the Croatian-Ukrainian dictionary, which our students and teachers will be able to use in the educational process to learn the Croatian language and learn about Croatian culture. I am convinced that in the future we will implement more joint educational and scientific projects!"


The event was also attended by Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal, Deputy Head of the Ternopil Regional Council Ihor Sopel, and Head of the White Croatia organisation Mykhailo Blavitskyi.


During the meeting, Professor Lyudmyla Vasylieva of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv presented a Croatian-Ukrainian dictionary published with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic, and the White Croatia NGO.


Prof. Vasylieva said: "This edition contains more than 25,000 commonly used words of the Croatian language, which constitute its basic lexical minimum, and their Ukrainian equivalents. The dictionary contains well-known Croatian phraseology and well-established expressions, as well as the most common scientific, technical and sports terms and place names, translated into Ukrainian."


Chairman of the Academic Council Andriy Krysovatyy thanked Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic for supporting Ukraine during the full-scale war and gifted her with chevrons of Ukrainian defenders who are heroically defending our country from the enemy.
