The final conference of the project "European Regional Policy and Security Threats"

 The final conference of the project "European Regional Policy and Security Threats" took place today at the West Ukrainian National University. This project was implemented at the Classical University of Ternopil from 2019 to 2022. The main goal of this project was to promote the EU's experience in unlocking territorial potential through strategic development programs and the implementation of best practices in Ukraine in order to further integrate into the EU regions.

The event was attended by representatives of domestic and foreign higher education institutions, as well as project coordinators Jean Monnet from all over Ukraine. In particular, the reports were presented by specialists of the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine, the University of Western Macedonia (Greece), the University of Lodz (Poland), OMNIS Religio Vorstandt (Germany), Mariupol State University, Kharkiv National University of Economics named after S. Kuznets, Volyn National University named after Lesya Ukrainka, Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin, State University of Trade and Economics, Zaporizhia National University, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Implementing the main tasks achieved the following results:

· 161 masters studied at the ERP-course;

· 133 students underwent ERP training;

· 7 articles were published and 2 textbooks were published;

· 3 round tables and a final conference were organized;

· Improved teaching methods at the university;

· Deepened knowledge and skills of students and trainees in the field of EU territorial development;

· A chain of Jean Monnet structures was established at the university with the aim of their further development into a full-fledged Center for European Studies.

The program continues to provide opportunities for learning and academic mobility for researchers and students, supports partnership and development projects.

Academic coordinator of the project, rector of WUNU Andriy Krysovatyy noted:

Students of the European Regional Policy course got acquainted with territorial development strategies, aspects of decentralization and self-government, location of regional production activities, urban development and cluster formation in EU countries. The acquired competencies can be used by graduates of the program to expand their professional profile and help increase their competitiveness in national and global labor markets.


Students of the course "European practice of local government" adopted the European experience of forming the competitive advantages of the region, the implementation of regional policy, spatial planning and development of depressed areas in the EU. The acquired practical skills will be useful in carrying out professional activities aimed at the development of domestic territories.
